很多英語師范專業(yè)、英語專業(yè)或者其他專業(yè)但是在英語能力方面比較優(yōu)秀的同學在專業(yè)申請的時候，都會優(yōu)先考慮教育學和TESOL專業(yè)，這兩者之間有什么區(qū)別和聯(lián)系呢？
教育學是一個很大的范疇，里面包含了很多方向， 每個方向所教授和學習的側重點都不盡相同。總體來說，教育學學習和研究的內(nèi)容包括了語言學、教學方向、教育技術、學校管理、教育心理學、宏觀教育研究六個主要分支。TESOL對應語言學分支下面的對外英語教學，因此，TESOL 屬于教育學大類下面的一個分支，兩者屬于從屬關系。
在香港，常申請的學校當中都開設了教育學院，如香港大學，香港中文大學，香港城市大學，香港科技大學，香港理工大學，浸會大學都有開設教育相關的 Program 。專門開設TESOL的學校有香港大學，香港城市大學，香港教育學院，其中香港城市大學比較特殊的就是TESOL是項目 Master of Arts in English Studies下的一個分支。其余學校則以English Language Teaching為主。由于香港的學校和項目較少，學生一般會同時考慮Education項目。 并且，Education項目的錄取條件相對于TESOL專業(yè)來講會低一點。接下來以港大為例，為大家分析一下兩個專業(yè)的申請的要求與區(qū)別。
香港大學教育學專業(yè)和TESOL專業(yè)都有設置，兩個專業(yè)都屬于Faculty of Education院校下。
一、MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages（TESOL）
學生在一學年學習12門課程(72學分)，包括6門必修課(各6學分)、一個項目(12學分)和4門選修課(各6學分)。
（1）Core Courses:

5、語言要求：TOEFL: 94+(25 or above in the Writing)，需要送分
6、申請截止時間：12:00 noon (GMT +8), February 11, 2021（已截止，明年的申請時間可以以這個時間作為參考）
7、申請材料：
For qualifications obtained in China:
(i) Transcript;
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree Certificate (學士學位證書);
(iii) Graduation Certificate (畢業(yè)證書);
(iv) English translation of the above documents certified by your home institution bearing official stamps from the Registry or declared as true copies before a notary public (公證處). Verification Report of Graduation Certificate and Transcript issued by CHSI (學信網(wǎng)) & CHESICC (全國高等學校學生信息咨詢與就業(yè)指導中心) and Verification Report of the Bachelor Degree Certificate issued by CDGDC (學位與研究生教育發(fā)展中心) are also acceptable.
二、Master of Education
Generalist Strand
4、學費：HK$168,000
5、語言要求：TOEFL: 80+，需要送分
6、申請截止時間：12:00 noon (GMT +8), May 17, 2021（已截止，明年的申請時間可以以這個時間作為參考）

該項目是為正在尋找機會擴展其教育專業(yè)知識的教育專業(yè)人士提供的學位。它旨在為學生提供對作為學習領域的教育的一般理解，并專注于專業(yè)領域的掌握，并為他們提供了解教育研究的知識和技能。Education和TESOL學成歸國都可以進普通高校，TESOL專業(yè)傾向于大學英語老師，Education更傾向于教學行政類，例如教務等等。需要看學生的就業(yè)傾向。

- Chinese Language Education (CLE)
- Comparative and Global Studies in Education and Development (CGSED)
